With great pleasure, the Morris County Sheriff's Office welcomes retired East Hanover Police Department Captain Jack Ambrose to the Agency as a Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer.
Sheriff James M. Gannon administered the oath of office to Officer Ambrose Friday morning. Many, many police officers in Morris County met Officer Ambrose over the past 25 years as he served -- and still does -- as lead drill instructor and a physical training instructor for police recruits at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy.
He retired from the East Hanover Police Department in November 2019 after a 33-year career there.

If you want to see a spectacular sight, especially if you have binoculars and live close to the Essex or Union county border, watch the skies on Tuesday, April 28, for formation flights by the United States military Thunderbirds and Blue Angels as they fly over as a salute to COVID-19 responders.
The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron known as the Thunderbirds and the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron known as the Blue Angels will honor frontline COVID-19 responders and essential workers with formation flights over New York City, Newark, Trenton and Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Consider sending the Morris County Sheriff's Office any pictures you are able to take and we'll post them.
The flyover by a formation of 6 F-16C/D Fighting Falcon and 6 F-18C/D Hornet aircraft, which Morris County residents may see, will start around 12 noon at the George Washington Bridge. The planes will fly south along the Hudson River and over parts of the counties of Bergen, Hudson, Union and Essex, including Newark.
So, if you can, watch for the flyover between noon and 12:40 p.m.
The flyover will turn east toward New York City and span parts of Connecticut and Long Island before concluding around 12:40 p.m.#AmericaStrong
Residents along the flight path can expect to hear a few seconds of jet noise and enjoy the sight of the high-performance jets flying in precise formation.
